Milton Hershey aka Jake Hedelund

Everyone loves Chocolate, so everyone should love Milton Hershey. Jake learned all about Milton Hershey and chocolate. Milton Hershey contributed a lot of wonderful things to society besides just Hershey chocolate. He open a wonderful school for children. He was good to his employees. Jake had a great time learning about him. After Jake presented his speech, he handed every classmate a kiss from Milton Hershey.Jake giving his speech.

Happy 50th Birthday Jens

We the help of a lot of wonderful friends, Jens and I were able to sneak off for a three day trip to one of our favorite places in California - Monterey. We enjoyed a five hour car ride up the coast. We found a delicious restaurant, The Big Sky Cafe in San Luis Obispo. We stayed in our favorite hotel - the Hyatt. It was so wonderful to be kid less.

One day we hiked in Point Lobo. Point Lobo is a little before Monterey. There is beautiful scenery.

We took one day to head to San Francisco. When Jens was in school in Denmark, one of the places that he learned about was the Golden Gate Bridge. It was always a desire of his to see it. He saw it for the first time 13 years ago when Adam was a baby. It was fun to spend his actually 50th birthday on the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco.

. We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. We went down into Sausalito and rode the ferry round trip. It was a magical day for both of us.

Jens is calling his mom in Denmark Alcatraz Island from the ferry.

After lots of yummy food, sea air and quiet moments, it was time to head home. We managed one last stop at the Big Sky Cafe for lunch and found our way back to reality.

Anna joined the South Coast Aquatics that practices at Cal Lutheran University. She joined with Amanda Macdonald, Sarah and Natalie Congelliere. She is a good swimmer and looks very graceful in the water.

Hairspray, Anyone?

It is time for the theater. It is time for Hairspray!!! We went to see the show on the first day of Spring Break from school. Everyone got dressed up. Jake wore a tie for the first time. He was quite dashing. The show was great.

International Night

It is International Night at the school. The Middle School Chorus was invited to perform. They sounded beautiful. They sang Stand by Me, Imagine, and Hashuviu. It was fun to see Mrs. Hague in the middle of them.

Do You Remember What You Read As a Child?

Fablehaven, Keys to the Demon Prison is a book written by Brandon Mull. It is actually a s 5 book series, which is a must read at our house including mom. It about the Sphinx - leader of the Society of the Evening Star - is after the final artifacts needed to open the great demon prison. This is the final book in the series. It came out on March 23, 2010. We got 4 copies. Three of them were birthday presents for Sam, Jared and Natalie. We wrapped them up and delivered them to the friends, and then the reading started. Anna was telling Adam, "Hurry up, I want to read it". I remember reading as a child. I wished I had those books now. I have passed on Little House on the Praire series to Anna, plus God, It is me Margaret by Judy Blume. Do you remember what you read as a child?

Jake is a wolf!!!

Jake is moving on to the Bears. He passed his Wolf Trail in Cub Scouts. He is really excited because he gets to move up with TJ, his best friend.

Jake and The Never Ending Story

In 3rd grade, Jake has to read different genres. It time it has been hard for him. One day, I asked to go get his reading done. He went outside and started reading in the garden. I thought it was so cute with Jack by his side.

The Last Thing to Do on The Wolf Trail List - Eat a Hot Dog - Yikes

Jake has been working hard to complete his Cub Scout Wolf Trail. He had to plan and cook an outdoor meal. He planned to cook hot dogs, chips and grapes. Good idea to keep it SIMPLE.
